Oman’s
coast runs down its eastern side. Creating both dramatic
Fjord like areas and kilometer after
kilometer
of deserted sand beach.
In
the far north of Oman the mountains of Musandam
plunge down to the sea creating a sheer wall
of mountain backdrop to mirror like inlets
from the sea. Here and there small villages
have found space between rock and water to
develop and grow. Musandam is a great area
for scuba diving and sea based activities.

South
of Muscat in the central region the Wahaiba
Sand Desert cascades into to the sea
while stretched along Omans length are
kilometers
after kilometer of empty sandy beach.
Some
of the coastal areas can be reached in a
days turn-around from Muscat ; to make the most of their charms most
demand that you take a more leisurely journey.
Musandam
has dramatic Fjords and isolated villages
set on the tiny silver of flat land that
sits between mountain and sea. This is the
area most isolated from the rest of Oman
but the rewards for visitors on our tours
to Musandam can include days cruising the
coast, dropping anchor to enjoy
snorkeling
away from it all.
The
Sharquia region with the famed Dhow (wooden
boat) yards of Sur and scenic mountain valleys
fringed with date plantations is perhaps
the most compelling area in the north of
Oman. Include the wonderful Wahaiba Sand desert their inhabitants and this is
a must see region.
